FarmKeep: Our Journey to Self-Sufficient Farm Management

In September 2020 and the midst of the COVID pandemic, we moved away from the SF Bay Area tech scene where we had resided for 8 years to live a more self-sufficient lifestyle. We purchased a 2.25 acre agricultural property in Sacramento, CA, and have been gardening and raising animals including chickens, turkeys, geese, and ostriches. In our journey towards becoming self-sufficient, we found a passionate community of homesteaders, hobby farmers, and family owned businesses with one common goal: to build alternative and sustainable ways of living, free from the negative impacts of the industrialized food system. We also discovered a big gap in this space. There was no well designed and developed product that could support the day to day management and the long term growth of a farm from inception to profitability.

So we set out to take our decades of tech industry experience, the help and input of this community, and our own personal learnings in homesteading to build a product that could improve the lives of people in this space.
